College Preparation and Applications

The college admissions process has changed dramatically in recent years. Gone are the days of just mailing in a paper application, and then waiting patiently by the mailbox. Today’s admission process involves multiple standardized tests, admission applications, scholarship applications, financial aid applications, and more. Each has its own requirements, paperwork, and deadlines.

Maybe you need just a little bit of help with a few essays. Maybe you need help with the whole process, from beginning to end. Maybe you're somewhere in between. Jump Start Package (9th and 10th Graders)

This package is designed for students in grades 9 and 10 (or 11th graders in the fall semester), to help align your goals, activities, courses, and timelines so that you are ready for the college admissions process and prepared for success in college and beyond!  

  • Approximately 12 individual meetings during the school year, plus regular updates of information and access to advising as needed throughout the year,

  • Review of academic record at end/beginning of each quarter;

  • Guidance on course selections for subsequent school year(s);

  • Discussions of extracurricular and summer activities (jobs, internships, travel, etc.);

  • Testing recommendations, timelines, and hints on preparation (Max of 4 hours of basic test preparation is included; full test prep can be added as a separate bundle);

  • Emphasis on time management, building good study habits, leadership, and service;

  • Creation of a personal timeline for the college process;

  • Availability by text and email, anytime, for answers to questions or quick advice!


College Prep Packages for 11th and 12th graders

These packages include the critical college application/admission tasks. Find the bundle that fits your needs!

Basic Package

This basic package of either 10 or 20 hours (divided into 60 minute sessions over time) includes any college coaching services you choose.

  • Possible options include developing a list of recommended colleges; action plan with organizational timeline; advice on successful college visits, recommendations for test preparation and timing; recommendations for extracurricular involvement; advice on high school course selection; resume development; gap year options; essay editing; mock interview practice, and more.

  • This package is suitable for families who already know the process and just need limited support and guidance through the process or for students who are applying to a limited number of colleges (4 or fewer).

Comprehensive Package

This is the go-to, essential package of one-on-one coaching throughout the college application process:  

  • Ongoing development and assessment of college possibilities

    • Organizing the college search and application process; Reviewing the student’s college list for best academic, social, and financial fit; Creating a list of recommended colleges unique to each student.

  • Application support

    • Introducing students to the Common Application (as well as the Coalition App, the UC application, the ApplyTexas application, and any others necessary), providing assistance in crafting the best application possible, working with your student throughout the process, and reviewing all applications prior to submission;

    • Ensuring that students are on track and on time, reminders of all due dates, and completion of tasks in advance of required due dates;

    • Formulating strategies for applying to colleges under Early Decision, Restrictive Early Action, Early Action, Regular Decision and Rolling Admissions.

  • Essays

    • Guidance through the writing process, helping the student to create memorable, high impact essays, reflecting their individual experiences and unique voice; includes review and critique of multiple drafts-in-process, including the Personal Statement essay and all supplemental essays.

  • Includes access to an online portal where all information is consolidated

  • Includes continuous, expert support throughout the entire process.

 

Premier Package

In addition to all services described above, this package includes up to 15 hours of ACT prep services, which may be scheduled as individual tutoring sessions, or may be applied to the full Savvy ACT Strategies Prep Course (which includes all sub-test strategies, a full-length practice test, and an individual diagnostic review session following the practice test).
